Captains will be waiting at our designated pick up points in the Mobility, Sustainability and Opportunity Pavilions ready to get you home. Just select Economy – Expo or Max – Expo on your app and hop into the next available ride.

How to use Careem at Expo (Zero-ETA) 
1. Select Car and enter your destination
2. Choose the closest pickup point (Mobility, Sustainability or Opportunity Pavilions)
3. Select Economy Expo or Max Expo car types and press Yalla!
4. Your unique pickup pin/OTP will be generated
5. Show your pin to the next available Captain in the Careem queue to get your ride started

Our team will be on-ground across all pickup points if you need any assistance.

 

Things to know: 

1. Promo code EXPO is valid on all car types except Hala and Careem Box
2. Code valid till 31 December 2021
3. Maximum savings AED 20 per ride
4. Rides originating from the Expo 2020 site incur a flat AED 20 starting fee included in your total fare (private and taxi)

 

FAQ’s

Do the prices differ for Zero-wait Expo rides?

As per regulatory requirement, rides originating from the Expo 2020 site incur a flat AED 20 fee (private and taxi). This is the only surcharge applicable; prices remain the same as Economy rides.

You can know the price of your ride upfront before booking, and for rates please refer to the Help section on your Careem app.

 

Can I use a promo code?

Yes, you can add code EXPO for 15% off 4 rides in the promo code section before booking your ride (like any other booking).

 

Can I use my preferred payment method? 

Yes, you can choose to pay by card, cash, Apple Pay or through credits on your Careem Wallet.

 

What car types are available at the Careem Expo? 

Our Economy cars (Lexus, Chevrolet’s) are available which can seat up to 3 passengers, and Max cars (SUV’s, Vans) which can seat up to 5 passengers.

 

How can I check the estimated fare? 

The estimated fare will show before you book your ride (before pressing Yalla!), which is based on the dropoff location.

 

Can I choose which car to sit in? 

Our Captains will be in a queue at the pickup points. Proceed to the first available Captain and share your pin/OTP to get your ride started.

 

Can I schedule a later ride for pickups with Careem Expo? 

Unfortunately, we do not have later booking available for this car type. However, we’ll always have a ride ready for you at the pickup point, anytime you need it.

 

How long will I have to wait for a ride? 

We aim to make you wait the least amount of time, with a constant supply of Captains on the ready. Although, during peak hours in the evening you may have to wait a couple of minutes.

 

Can I make multiple bookings at the same time from Expo 2020?

Yes, just ask our on-ground team to assist you with generating more pins/OTP’s. If you’d like to do it yourself, you will be able to generate a new code once your first ride has started.

 

Can I make a regular booking? 

You can only make bookings through the Economy and Max Expo car type at the Expo 2020 site. This is to ensure we can reduce your wait time and provide a more seamless experience to everyone.

 

Do I have to pay cancellation charges if the unique pin/OTP is not used?

There are no charges if the unique pin/OTP is not used.

 

What if I decide to travel later?

You can choose to cancel the ride if the unique pin/OTP hasn’t been used yet.

 

How long is the unique pin/OTP valid for? 

The pin is valid for 15 minutes. If you don’t use it within that time, you can always generate a new one.

 

What should I do if I get an error with the unique pin? 

In the unforeseen chance you get an error, our on-ground team will be present at the pickup points to assist.

 

Why is my unique pin not working? 

If you ever face any issues, please reach out to our on-ground team at the designated pickup points.

Here are a few reasons why it may not work:

• The unique pin is being shared with someone who is not a Careem Captain
• The payment method selected has insufficient funds
• The pin has been generated for more than 15 minutes

 

I generated a unique pin, but lost it. What should I do? 

You can always generate a new one, there is no extra cost. You can also reach out to our on-ground team for help.

 

Why was I charged as soon as the ride started? 

When booking the ride through Careem, our system may check if the payment method is valid or not by attempting to hold an amount. This amount is held temporarily and when the booking is completed, the final amount will be charged from the hold amount and the rest will be released immediately from our end. It could take 1 – 3 weeks for this to reflect on your bank statement, depending on your bank’s policy
