The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency is proud to unveil “Budapest Select – A VVoven View,” an immersive exhibition that explores the intricate dialogue between tradition and innovation, human craftsmanship and artificial intelligence, and the organic and technological worlds.
This curated showcase highlights the unique creative spirit of Hungarian designers, presenting a compelling fusion of past and future through material experimentation and artistic expression.
“Budapest Select – A VVoven View” weaves together the work of 24 Hungarian artists and designers, reflecting the core values of dialogue, connection, adaptability, sustainability, and character. The exhibition unfolds across three distinct spaces: one celebrating traditional materials and craftsmanship, another dedicated to technological advancements, and a third where these worlds converge in harmony. These seemingly opposing perspectives complement and reinforce each other, illustrating the distinct creative mindset that has defined Hungarian artistry throughout history and continues to shape its future.
A striking visual element of the exhibition is the floating white paper sheets adorning the walls and ceiling, symbolising purity and boundless creative possibility. These sheets serve as a metaphor for the evolving relationship between artists and artificial intelligence—where AI acts as both a tool and a conversational partner. Through this collaboration, AI-generated concepts are refined, questioned, and transformed by human intuition, showcasing the fluid exchange of ideas between machine intelligence and human creativity.
Textual elements within the exhibition are intentionally altered by the artists, with handwoven threads drawing attention to selected passages. This intervention emphasises the indispensable role of human interpretation in the creative process, reinforcing that AI remains a facilitator rather than a replacement for artistic intuition and critical thinking.
At the heart of “Budapest Select – A VVoven View” lies the distinctive Hungarian approach to design—a philosophy that embraces flexibility, resourcefulness, and the continuous reinterpretation of tradition. The exhibition demonstrates how Hungarian designers skilfully navigate the interplay of sustainability and technological innovation, using both natural and recycled materials alongside digital manufacturing and artificial intelligence-driven processes.
This duality is not a contradiction but an opportunity for balance. One section of the exhibition showcases handcrafted, organic, and locally sourced materials, while another presents cutting-edge digital tools and algorithm-driven designs. The result is a space where sustainable values and technological advancements are not at odds but rather reinforce one another, sparking a dialogue about the evolving relationship between heritage and progress.
“Budapest Select – A VVoven View” is more than just an exhibition; it is a platform for international discourse on the future of design. By presenting the innovative mindset of Hungarian creators, the exhibition introduces global audiences to a contemporary artistic philosophy where artificial intelligence and human craftsmanship converge, redefining the boundaries of creative expression.
Alongside the exhibition, a diverse programme of cultural events will be organised throughout the week, offering visitors an immersive experience of Hungarian creativity. From guided tours and illustration workshops to folk performances and wine tastings, these events provide an engaging and interactive exploration of the themes showcased in the exhibition.
