Draga & Aurel, between matter and memory. The solo exhibition Matters of Memories by Draga & Aurel, hosted in the new ‘Ex Terra’ space of RR Interieur in Knokke (Belgium), is a journey through time that blends collectible design, art, and transformative memory

In Knokke, the artists unveil new pieces from the Rescue me series, a spin-off of the upcycling Heritage collection, where discarded vintage furniture becomes a manifesto of rebirth. They also present new resin and concrete inspirations from Transparency Matters, placed alongside their most iconic works reimagined with new finishes, coatings, and colours.

The journey also includes a collection of intense, composite, and experimental paintings by Aurel K. Basedow. Through layering, the power of the creative gesture is revealed: different techniques coexist on the surface, along with photographic and textile inserts emerging between pigments, resin, and concrete. The works are bold and reflective, engaging in a profound dialogue with both the space and the spectator, emphasized by the predominance of red—a colour with strong expressive charge, vibrant and allusive.

Draga & Aurel do not restore, they re-code. They elevate craftsmanship to a conceptual level, transforming scraps, forgotten objects, and traditional techniques into an aesthetic and narrative language.
